Accessibility & Mobility Devices
Swans Trail Farms welcomes guests with disabilities, including those who walk independently or use wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers, canes, or other mobility aids. We are committed to making our farm as accessible and enjoyable as reasonably possible.
Wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers, canes, and other mobility aids designed primarily for individuals with mobility disabilities are welcome in all areas open to guests.
Other Power-Driven Mobility Devices (OPDMDs) used by individuals with mobility disabilities may also be permitted, subject to reasonable safety requirements based on the device’s type, size, weight, dimensions, and speed; current ground and weather conditions; the area in which it will be used; and pedestrian traffic at the time of the visit.
Farm Terrain
Please remember that Swans Trail Farms is a working farm. Guests travel throughout the farm on foot or with mobility devices, and surfaces may include grass, dirt, mud, loose gravel, hills, ruts, and other naturally uneven terrain. Conditions can change significantly due to weather and farm operations.
Some pathways, attractions, or agricultural areas may be difficult or unsafe to navigate for guests with limited mobility or with certain mobility devices.
Safe Operation of Mobility Devices
For everyone’s safety, mobility devices must:
- Be operated at a safe walking speed
- Yield to guests traveling on foot
- Remain under the operator’s control
- Follow posted directions and staff instructions
- Not block pathways, entrances, exits, or attraction operations
Certain devices may be restricted in specific areas or when their operation would create a legitimate safety risk.
Fuel-Powered Devices
Fuel- or combustion-powered OPDMDs are not permitted during public operating hours. Swans Trail Farms primarily serves families with young children and regularly experiences heavy pedestrian traffic throughout its pathways and attraction areas. Due to the risks created by the size, speed, exhaust, noise, and operation of these devices around dense crowds and young children, we have determined that they cannot be operated safely during public hours.
This restriction does not apply to standard power wheelchairs or mobility scooters designed primarily for individuals with mobility disabilities.
Before Your Visit
If you have limited mobility or plan to use an OPDMD, we encourage you to contact us before your visit. If bringing an OPDMD, please tell us the type and general dimensions of the device—not the nature of your disability—so we can discuss current conditions, accessible routes, and applicable safety guidelines.
Accessibility needs and farm conditions can vary. Our team will work with you to identify reasonable options whenever possible.
